TITLE:  See U Around Town Summer School Programming Teacher (Multiple Positions Available)

LOCATION:  King Elementary School (One site for the summer program which includes King, Preston Williams, Thomas Paine, Leal, and Yankee Ridge Elementary School Students  Grades 1-4).

SUPERVISOR:  This position reports directly to the Program Coordinator and building administrations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

1. Prepare creative and engaging enrichment activities.
2. Implement digital/non-digital lessons in a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that assists students assigned to the classroom with achieving specific educational goals.
3. Create a classroom environment that is welcoming to all students.
4. Collaborate with staff assigned to the classroom to develop general classroom procedures, goals, schedules, behavioral expectations, and classroom activities for students.
5. Plan and implement activities inside and outside of the classroom that expose a child to a variety of learning experiences and broaden the child's perspective.
6. Implement appropriate assessments and document student progress in programs.
7. Take daily attendance and complete other required documentation as assigned.
8. Review, develop, and requisition materials for the classroom.
9. Work in partnership with the Coordinator to plan and encourage family involvement in the education of their children.
10. Supervise students as assigned by the Principal and/or Program Coordinator.
11. Perform any and all additional duties as assigned by the Leadership Team.

Minimal Educational Requirements:

1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, with certifications and endorsements as applicable.

Experience:

1. Classroom experience preferred.
2. Prior experience working in an After School Program or Summer Programming is preferred but not required.
3. Internal applicants only.

Other skills and abilities:

1. Ability to assess children and knowledge of childhood development.
2. Ability to communicate and work effectively on a collaborative team.
3. Ability to effectively work with students with a history of behavioral, social/emotional, and/or developmental disabilities.
4. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and responses.

Licenses/Credentials:

1. Valid Illinois Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement.

Terms of Employment:

1. Daily hours TBD, four days a week (June  9 - June 26, 2025)
2. The position is for summer programming only when the program is in session.
3. Attendance at an orientation meeting is expected prior to the start of this program.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of professional personnel.

NOTE:

1. This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not administrative in nature.
2. Position contingent upon grant funding.
3. Staff must formally apply by April 11, 2025.
4. A tiered approach to hiring will be applied to filling vacancies:
5. Tier I - Those with Full-time Teacher Certificates and experience working Urbana programs in Summer 2024 and/or After school programming 2024-25
6. Tier II - Should spots remain, this round will hire from applicants who work in the district as substitute teachers
7. Hourly Position - $32/hour
