The Museum is accepting applications for the position of Visitor Services Associate. This team member is responsible for providing a “one of a kind experience” to the Museum’s 170,000 annual visitors with an emphasis on customer service inside the Soda Fountain. Under the direction of the Retail Manager, this team member is responsible for assisting with duties that pertain to the retail activities of Dr Pepper Museum including Soda Fountain and Float Trailer.
In Soda Fountain, this person will be taking and fulfilling customer orders while providing an immersive experience in the role of a Soda Jerk. The requirements include dressing in the Soda Jerk uniform, using classic Soda Fountain lingo, and handcrafting drinks similar to how it was done in the late 1800s when Dr Pepper was invented. Qualified Soda Jerks are occasionally needed to facilitate rentals of our Thirst Aid Station (Food Truck).

Special Abilities / Requirements
- Must be willing and available to work a minimum of 12 hours for your first 60 days.
- Weekend availability is a must, with flexible weekday scheduling available. Availability must include days, nights, weekends, and off-site for community events and food truck rentals.
- Graduation from High School or GED
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in retail or food service preferred.
- Working with the public
- Ability to work in a fast paced, loud, and demanding environment in a variety of environmental conditions.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to accurately follow directions from Management staff.
- Ability to work both as a team or independently and maintain productivity during downtime.
- Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with DPM safety program.
- Ability to follow a written work schedule.
- Ability to get to and from work during scheduled hours.
- Ability and willingness to assist with visitor needs.
- Ability and willingness to learn and maintain general knowledge of the DPM and surrounding Waco area.
- Ability to stand for long hours and lift objects up to 50 pounds is required.
- Must have access to reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- To be considered for Food Truck rentals: Must have a current, valid Texas driver license. Must be able or willing to learn to hook up a trailer to a truck and drive a truck with a trailer within a 30-mile radius of the Museum. Must be available on nights and weekends (scheduled in advance) to take the Float Trailer to events. Perform duties required to facilitate all Float Trailer rentals including necessary setup, transporting trailer to and from events, and supporting staff while at the event.
Compensation / Benefits:
- Part time, non-exempt position.
- 10-25 hours per week on average.
- $13.50 per hour.
- Opportunity to earn tips when working in the Soda Fountain and Food Truck.
- Additional hours working after-hours rentals and events when available.
- Occasional overtime hours allowed by discretion of the director.
