Responsibilities
- Assist oral surgeons during procedures, while maintaining a sterile surgical field and ensuring patient comfort.
- Utilize dental/surgical terminology to communicate effectively with the surgical team, patients, referring doctors and their teams.
- Ability to operate 3D imaging scanners.
- Manage all medical, surgical and imaging equipment as needed.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control protocols.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient records and medical history in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with patient comfort before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Manage supply inventory and ensure all necessary materials are stocked.
- Assist with front desk duties, including scheduling and patient check-in when needed.
- Housekeeping.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in English (REQUIRED).
- High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).
- Certification as a dental/surgical assistant or experience in oral surgery assisting is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience in assisting.
- Knowledge of dental/surgical terminology, instruments, and procedures.
- Proficiency in using 3D imaging scanners.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and anatomy.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and practice management software (particularly DSN) is a plus.
- Ability to perform vital signs monitoring and medical imaging.
- Phlebotomy certification and ability to prepare Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a plus.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $25.54 - $28.19 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
