Dental Surgical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Assist oral surgeons during procedures, while maintaining a sterile surgical field and ensuring patient comfort.
• Utilize dental/surgical terminology to communicate effectively with the surgical team, patients, referring doctors and their teams.
• Ability to operate 3D imaging scanners.
• Manage all medical, surgical and imaging equipment as needed.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control protocols.
• Ensure accurate documentation of patient records and medical history in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Monitor vital signs and assist with patient comfort before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Manage supply inventory and ensure all necessary materials are stocked.
• Assist with front desk duties, including scheduling and patient check-in when needed.
• Housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English (REQUIRED).
• High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).
• Certification as a dental/surgical assistant or experience in oral surgery assisting is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven experience in assisting.
• Knowledge of dental/surgical terminology, instruments, and procedures.
• Proficiency in using 3D imaging scanners.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and anatomy.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and practice management software (particularly DSN) is a plus.
• Ability to perform vital signs monitoring and medical imaging.
• Phlebotomy certification and ability to prepare Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a plus.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $25.54 - $28.19 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
