Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process and submit medical claims to insurance companies in a timely manner.
- Manage billing for all major health insurance providers, ensuring compliance with payer-specific requirements.
- Review and verify patient information, insurance details, and billing codes for accuracy and compliance.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding their financial responsibilities, payment options, and billing inquiries.
- Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims, resubmit as necessary, and ensure timely reimbursement.
- Address and resolve claim denials and discrepancies by working with insurance providers and initiating appeals when needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, CPT codes, and billing guidelines, particularly those related to ABA therapy services.
- Ensure all billing activities comply with HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
- Generate and analyze billing, payment, and account status reports to support financial decision-making.
Required:
- Bachelors degree in related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical insurance billing, with preference for ABA therapy billing experience.
- Strong understanding of medical billing procedures, CPT codes, and insurance claim processing.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic billing systems (e.g., Passage health).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure billing accuracy and claim processing efficiency.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a remote environment.
- Experience in ABA therapy or behavioral health billing.
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) certification.
- Experience handling Medicaid and managed care plans.
