Drake Plastics is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, and material transportation. Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for assisting with the receiving, cleaning, collection, labeling, allocation, cutting, counting, inspecting, packaging, and shipment of products and materials in support of inventory control and management. This position is also responsible for performing a variety of material handling functions such as organizing and keeping the warehouse area clean, as well as other miscellaneous tasks as requested by the Materials Manager and Customer Service Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, verify, and inspect incoming product and materials from internal and external customers.
- Perform inventory cycle counts and support physical inventory audits. Document and report all discrepancies, including physical condition, quantity, and paperwork.
- Allocate, process, and close material transactions to and from orders, including traceability and any other product data (test reports, certs, etc.)
- Safely load and unload equipment and materials from trucks, ensuring proper and safe handling of various loads.
- Operate cutting machinery accurately and safely, including preventative maintenance and cleaning.
- Clean, label, wrap, and protect materials for safe transportation or warehouse storage.
- Keep inventory, loading/shipping areas, and warehouse clean and orderly, with designed areas and established housekeeping standards.
- Assists in orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product for final distribution.
- Other responsibilities may include lifting heavy material (up to 55 lbs.) and operating a forklift/pallet jack. Operating hand tools/saws and weighing and dispensing material.
- Adhere to and promote all safety protocols and operating guidelines to maintain a secure work environment.
Required Skills/Experience/Education:

- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience or certification operating a forklift or pallet jack.
Work Environment/Schedule:
Primary warehouse, and some shop environment with some computer interface. Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 55 lbs.), and carrying of product is required. Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, with some expanded schedules required for peak order fulfillment needs.
