Draslovka – Plant Manager
The Plant Manager has the overall responsibility and accountability for the facility personnel, legal compliancy of assets and achievement of business and corporate goals. The role delivers chemical manufacturing-based business and administrative leadership to an empowered, customer centered, and process driven organization. The Plant Manager must possess a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the success of the chemical manufacturing plant.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S):
- Accountable for full compliance with all regulatory requirements or Draslovka requirements - whichever is more stringent
- Accountable for the overall EHS performance of the Plant
- Accountable for the overall Plant Process Safety Management (PSM) performance
- Accountable for operating within permit limits; escalates deviations appropriately
- Demonstrates personal EHS leadership with short and long-term strategy planning
- Landlord for emergency, community response and public relations
- Accountable to take a strong lead in field visibility to lead by example and drive behaviors
- Ensures fair, appropriate, and consistent behavior expectations and response administered across the plant
- Sponsors PSM, Safety and Environmental committees and drives ownership of the Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance process results
Leadership:
- Ensures plant people succession planning meets expertise requirements
- Cultivates a positive and respectful work environment and welcomes feedback
- Maintains an open-door policy with all levels of organization
- Builds and maintains a positive working relationship with union representatives, ensuring fairness and consistency in the management of employees
- Promotes a diverse and inclusive work environment and the establishment of a respectful work environment.
- Sponsors events for employees and their families to maintain high personnel morale
- Develops and sponsors Draslovka’s future leaders
- Works with local school systems and technical colleges to ensure education is adequate to meet Draslovka’s current and future hiring needs
- Promotes and expands the networks of succession candidates across businesses, regions, and Draslovka globally
- Plant Spokesperson and representative for Draslovka strategy and initiatives
- Challenges and gives feedback fairly and effectively
- Ensures Draslovka’s pay for performance culture is applied
Business & Financial Acumen:
- Represents the plant in the Operations strategy development and goal setting process
- Example: operational costs, asset utilization, operational reliability, customer centricity
- Translates and communicates the business strategy and objectives to the Plant personnel
- Provides leadership, coaching and expectations for the personnel participating in the production goal and budget setting processes.
- Challenges teams and individuals to set, monitor and achieve goals aligned to the business and production strategies and goals.
- Ensures production costs are aligned to the corporate spending plan, with a long-term low-cost mindset
- Inspires the organization to apply the principles of continuous improvement, value creation, and financial acumen skills to accelerate profitability and low-cost manufacturing
- Drives implementation of productivity and technology implementation plans
- Challenges business and functions to maintain consistency with overall Draslovka and operational strategies
- Establishes annual and long-term capital planning
- Ensures facility infrastructure is strategically maintained
- Ensures production capability meets the business strategy
- Develops and owns strategic facility planning
Community:
- Serves as the face of the company to the community in external events
- Networks and advocates with other local, industry, and business associations
- Maintains housekeeping and exterior image to community
- Hosts events for both internal and external stakeholders and visitors
The following is required for this role:
- BS degree in Engineering or equivalent, including substantial prior management experience in a chemical, refining, or pharmaceutical industry
- Strong understanding of chemical process operations
- Prior management of High Hazard Process (HHP) facilities
- Process Safety Management in HHP/ Low Hazard Operations (LHO) operations
- Demonstrated understanding of safety procedures and corporate safety philosophy
- Strong understanding of plant costs and general accounting principles
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to work with a diverse population of employees and contractors
- Ability to set priorities and provide direction to influence management and broader organization
- Demonstrated strong teamwork, collaboration and cross-cultural skills
- Demonstrated ability to create a respectful work environment where everyone can contribute to their full potential
- Demonstrated capability to drive results and meet tight timelines
- Excellent time management and strategic planning skills
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

The following is preferred for this role:
- Previous experience in managing union relationships and collective bargaining negotiations.

- Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Expert
