Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Lead Pastor and family ministries teams to streamline communications, objectives and directives for execution.
- Provides pastoral oversight to ensure relationship, discipleship, fellowship and leadership of all Families teams.
- Design and implement programs that address the spiritual, emotional and relational needs of families within the church and communities that we serve.
- Oversee the planning and execution of all family ministry events that promote bonding and spiritual growth.
- Lead, mentor, and develop staff members and volunteers through training and development opportunities to ensure adequate ministry support and execution for all events, services and initiatives.
- Provide ministerial support to families, couples and individuals and, as necessary, share with other ordained and lay ministers in hospital visitation, home visits, counseling, marriages and funerals.
- Coach Direct Reports to discover, develop and deploy leaders.
- Ensure and monitor the growth of volunteer teams through recruiting efforts and volunteer opportunities.
- Effectively collaborate with other ministry teams on all church wide initiatives through proactive planning and team engagement in accordance with the church calendar.
- Manage downstream ministry budgets ensuring proper stewardship of allocated resources while also identifying ways to raise money to support and offset the costs of ministry events.
- Track ministry budgets and reports for assistance in ongoing financial controls and annual budgeting.
- Facilitate weekly 1 on 1’s with downstream leads using the Pulse Report as a framework to ensure that goals and objectives remain on track while also mitigating risks and barriers.
- Create and maintain a Pulse Report to provide regular updates to the Lead Pastor for all areas of oversight.
- Ensure that all ministry events have an evangelistic thrust and are effective by tracking and monitoring data.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Counseling or related field is required.
- At least five years of experience in a non-profit environment, preferably with human services experience or three to five years as a lead minister in a large congregation.
- Demonstrated skills in pastoral care, ministerial education, and collaborative working relationships.
- Leadership abilities and strategic thinking in order to design, plan, organize and implement ministry goals through collaborations and communication with a broad and diverse audience.
- Experience leading and working with multiple teams of adult volunteers.
- Experience working in a church of 1,500 or more in weekly attendance is preferred.
- Person of prayer and spiritual maturity; demonstrated commitment to social justice and evangelism; ability to inspire others to pastoral leadership.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and timeliness.
- Strategic research skills and analytic insight to interpret ministry data to make decisions about strategic opportunities.
- Proven servant leader who is willing to pitch in where needed, including days in the office reviewing reports, running a staff meeting, etc.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and inspire ministry leaders, staff, and volunteers towards a common goal. Professional presence with strong interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with a variety of ministry issues. Ability to use sound judgment. Person of prayer and spiritual maturity; demonstrated commitment to social justice and evangelism; ability to inspire others to pastoral leadership.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate directives and the church’s vision and goals.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies for ministry growth and effectiveness. Ability to clearly outline and document processes and procedures and give directives.
- Collaboration: Ability to foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration among ministry teams. Ability to work independently as well as able to work with virtual and cross functional teams.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions that positively impact the church and its ministries.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and needs within the church and its ministries. Proven time-management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in order to meet deadlines. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- This position may require evening, weekend and holiday work to accommodate ministry events and church activities.
- Occasional travel may be required for retreats, mission trips, and conferences.
