What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Program Leader position at Dream Center Evansville?
Position Summary: The Early Learning Program Leader (ECPL) is responsible for effectively supporting and executing Dream Center Evansville’s (DCE) early childhood programs and initiatives. The ECPL promotes positive early childhood development and kindergarten readiness for DCE’s early childhood population.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Lead and/or assist the Early Childhood Pathway Coordinator with the following programs:
- Toddle Time: a program for children and their parents that promotes child development through creative play and parent engagement. The ECPL will plan and lead sessions with activities that help grow childrens’ language skills, literacy skills, motor skills and math concepts. The ECPL will help parents connect the intentional play with extension activities they can do with their children at home.
- Eaglets: a preschool program that promotes school readiness through engaging activities and a structure that will prepare children for their transition into the school environment. Staff partner with parents to discuss their child’s progress and needs, and suggest ways that they can help to further prepare their child for kindergarten.
- Strong Starts: a program promoting parenting practices that grow the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of their children. In partnership with the Family Development Team, staff utilize curriculum to host parent cohorts focused on ensuring their children are receiving a strong start.
- Family Engagement: The ECPL will regularly engage with the families of DCE’s early learners to promote collaboration and support systems.
- Data Support: The ECPL helps collect relevant data on families and children in the early childhood programs, including but not limited to child development as measures such as Brigance. The ECPL provides regular reports regarding assessment data, goals, and interventions.
Job Specifications Requirements
- Preferred: 1 to 2 years of experience working with children in Early Childhood.
- Preferred: a basic familiarity with the Dream Center’s programs and services.
- Preferred: Experience working with individuals and families in low socio-economic situations.
- Demonstrated ability to connect and sustain relationships across socio-cultural boundaries.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in problem-solving on complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced and data-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with an interdisciplinary team.
- A basic knowledge and understanding of the needs of the community.
- Personal saving faith in Jesus Christ.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and expertise in group presentations.
Education:
- Preferred: Child Development Associate (CDA) and/or Early Childhood Education Training
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be 21 or over.
- Hold a valid driver’s license, and be comfortable to safely operate any of the DCE vehicles transporting students, including a 15-passenger van.
- Criminal background check must show no conviction of a felony or misdemeanor crime including, but not limited to abuse, drugs or alcohol, neglect, theft or fraud.
