Position Summary:
The Publishing Operations Assistant is primarily responsible for the support of the Dreamscape Media content pipeline. This individual will appropriately manage, process, and assist in key facets of the editorial business. They will be responsible for important data entry and will work closely with the Operations and Acquisitions Director to manage the entire title setup process. Further, this role will be responsible for ad-hoc requests from the Editorial Team to support the business.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Track and document all potential title acquisition opportunities
- Extensive, deadline driven data entry to support the contract and legal teams
- Collecting, locating, and soliciting all copy required for physical and digital audiobook releases under tight deadlines for up to 90 titles per month
- Curating metadata for all titles that includes, but is not limited to, bisac codes, thema codes, keywords, and descriptions to ensure optimal placement on distributor sites.
- Proofreading copy for typographical, spelling, and grammatical errors
- Monitor title listings across multiple partner platforms to ensure on-time release and accurate metadata and cover images
- Track and prepare upcoming titles from existing series for release
- Update titles on digital platforms with awards and buzz info as needed/relevant/desired
- Track Pub Date changes and make necessary adjustments
- Answer phones on an ad-hoc basis
- Monitor multiple emails
- Perform all other functions as required, including any work assignments relating to the efficient flow of work within Dreamscape, and follow all policies and procedures.
Skills:
- Familiarity with the Publishing Industry
- Familiarity with Windows platforms.
- Familiarity with Airtable and Quip a plus
- Familiarity with Outlook and beginner Excel knowledge
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be detail oriented and organized
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to respond effectively to changing priorities
- Must possess the ability to follow directions, stay focused and complete assigned tasks by deadlines
- Must be able to work in team environment
- Must possess excellent follow-up and follow-through skills
Preferred Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in the publishing industry
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in an administrative position of 1-3 years is a plus
