Dreamweavers is seeking an enthusiastic individual with a balanced sense of fun and responsibility for a full time live-in position supporting a developmentally disabled man. Provide direct care and pay NO RENT in the process! Very close to UW campus!
We are looking for an upbeat, friendly, mature and committed individual who will help him with all activities of daily life including recreational activities, daily routines, and providing general companionship, who can help him live a high quality, independent life within the community, and who can approach the job not merely as a checklist of tasks to complete, but as a fun, holistic experience.
We are seeking someone engaging, who can recognize the fun amid the challenges of the job, and able to be on the go with a variety of activities (community outings, video-games, music, computer interests, watching sports, art projects, etc). An ideal candidate would have attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, sound judgment, comfort providing emotional support, flexibility, and diverse interests to share. Responsibilities include being present for personal cares (providing some prompting and hands on assistance when necessary), communicating health needs, documentation, prompting and assisting with completion of daily household and other routines, cooking healthy meals, and being a great companion. The position includes a private room with own bathroom and garage parking in apartment building very close to campus and downtown (just south of the Kohl Center).
