The Senior Contracts Manager will lead the end-to-end contract life cycle, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements while maximizing value and mitigating risks. This role requires a proactive professional with experience in full-cycle contract management, including contract drafting, redlining, negotiation, execution and post-execution management.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Development and Negotiation
- Draft, review, redline and negotiate a variety of contracts, including but not limited to NDAs, MSAs, purchase agreements, service agreements, purchase orders, LOIs, change orders and vendor contracts.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as Legal, Sales, Procurement and Operations, to align contract terms with business objectives and risk mitigation.
- Manage operational, financial and legal risk to the company through robust contract management.
- Contract Administration
- Manage the full contract life cycle from initiation through execution, renewal or termination.
- Ensure all executed contracts are accurately stored and indexed in the contract management system.
- Track key contract milestones, deliverables and obligations, including renewal dates and notice provisions.
- Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify, assess and mitigate operational, financial and legal risk.
- Ensure all contracts comply with legal, regulatory and company requirements.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact contract terms and recommend necessary updates.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual matters across multiple domestic and international business units.
- Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on contract management concepts, best practices and obligations.
- Process Improvement
- Develop and implement streamlined contract management processes and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitor and report on contract performance metrics to senior management.
- Dispute Resolution
- Support resolution of contract-related disputes in collaboration with the Legal team and external counsel when necessary.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, English, Law or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in contract management, preferably in a corporate or manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex agreements and other documents with multiple stakeholders.
- Oil and gas industry experience is a plus.
- Experience with government contracts preferred.
- Strong understanding of contract law, terms and conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting and analytical skills.
- Proficient in using contract management software and tools.
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with competing interests or priorities.
