Job Title:  Licensed Classroom Teacher

  • The teacher is responsible for providing meaningful instruction designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual student growth, and creating and maintaining an environment conducive to learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Arkansas teaching license or enrolled in an approved Arkansas program for adding licensure
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
  • An understanding of teaching and the duties of a teacher as an educational leader

 

REPORTS TO:  

  • Building Principal
  • Superintendent

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter appropriate to grade level/course assignment.
  • Provides meaningful instruction to students to enhance student learning and increase student engagement.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of the district’s crisis management plan.
  • Utilize appropriate supplementary materials in lesson planning and presentation to enhance learning.
  • Communicate in a manner that is effective and appropriate to the age and/or ability level of students.
  • Incorporate appropriate assessment to provide feedback on a student’s mastery of material and attainment of specific instructional requirements.
  • Assist the administration in implementing the Hamburg School District Code of Conduct at the building and classroom level to provide a safe school and classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Create lesson plans and activities to implement district-approved curriculum and Arkansas learning goals.
  • Participate in building, grade level, and subject area committees.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintain and submit accurate records including student attendance, grades, and discipline, as well as others required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Complete and submit forms and required reports promptly.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns.
  • Participate as a member of an IEP team, 504 team, LPAC, or other student assistance teams as requested.
  • Implement special educational plans such as 504 plans, individual educational programs, and individual health plans.
  • Take steps to counteract prejudices based on race, religion, gender, age, disabilities, or personal attributes to foster a learning community, which respects all participants.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as directed by Board of Education policy.
  • Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher.
  • Provide and accept constructive criticism for improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with parents and co-workers to support the mission of the school district.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students.
  • Prepare students for local and state assessments.
  • Respond to administrative requests promptly.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and district policies.
  • Comply with regulations as to hours of arrival and departure from school.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent walking throughout the school campus
  • Moderate lifting or carrying (less than 30 pounds).
  • Sitting for extended periods.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for the use of office equipment and technology.
  • Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress.
  • Must be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making.
  • Perform all duties safely and responsibly.  Observe all safety precautions.
