Position Title: ABC Director
Reports to: Superintendent and works closley with the Elementary Principal
Length of Contract: 220 Days
Salary: Commensurate with Experience
Minimum Qualifications: Valid Arkansas Teaching License Early Childhood Degree with experience
Preferred Qualifications: Building Level License and Administrative Experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
District ABC Program Director
Oversee and manage all operations of ABC Program and evaluate ABC classified staff. Submit all requirements
to DHS and State ABC Department in coordination with the District Business Department.
Position Description:
1. Administering, planning, managing, and controlling the daily activities of the center;
2. Assist ABC staff in the implementation of ABC curriculum and instructional activities;
3. Ensuring that the facility meets licensing requirements;
4. Ensuring the health and safety of children;
5. Providing supervision of all staff and volunteer;
6. Collaborates closely with the elementary school regarding kindergarten readiness.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Education/Certification
? Valid Arkansas Teaching License
? Administrator’s License (Preferred)
? All new ABC Directors and Assistant Directors or Site Supervisors shall attend New Directors
Orientation, Program Administration Scale (PAS), and Environment Rating Scale (ERS)
training (or other approved tools that are considered equivalent) in the states Quality
Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) within six (6) months of employment.
? ABC Directors shall obtain fifteen (15) clock hours in early childhood education each year.
Training shall be registered with the Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education
(DCCECE) Professional Development Registry, or Department of Education, or Department of
Higher Education approved. Documentation of training shall be maintained and available for
review.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
? Thorough knowledge of curriculum and instruction
? Ability to evaluate instructional program, teaching effectiveness, and assessment practices and
implement a plan to make improvements
? Ability to coordinate and conduct district staff development
? Ability to implement and interpret policy, procedures, and data
? Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands:
occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and some fine finger dexterity. This job is performed in a
generally clean and healthy environment.
