POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision serves as a support to the assigned classroom teacher or instructional area in providing educational opportunities for each student within Career Technical Agricultural Education, Culinary Arts. Responsible for assisting in overseeing students and exposing them to fundamental food preparation terms, concepts, and methods in Culinary Arts where laboratory practice will parallel class work. This position reports to the Principal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists teacher with instruction of students, using various teaching methods, such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstration and other materials to supplement presentations relative to specific content field.
Supports and assists teacher with lessons in the classroom lab. Assists in maintaining discipline in the classroom.
Assists with routine record keeping, housekeeping, and assists with school-wide supervision.
Supports teacher with parent/teacher conferences to review student’s progress, performance, and behavior problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and professional development.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
One of the below requirements must be met:
- Hold an associate’s degree or higher in any subject from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution, or
- Have completed two (2) years of college coursework (sixty [60] semester hours) above the remedial level with a grade of “C” or better at a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution, or
- Have passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment and hold a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Paraprofessional experience serving school age children preferred.
Makes recommendations or decisions, which usually affect the classroom.
Must hold or be eligible for a GaPSC-issued Paraprofessional License. Eligibility is based on the education requirements outlined in Formal Education. Note: The Certification Team will apply for the Paraprofessional License upon hire.
Light independent judgment is necessary. Decisions made on an as-needed basis to establish operation of the office.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal school administrative personnel.
Requires regular, frequent contact with parents, community members, etc.
Applies, recommends, and implements technology solutions to improve the effectiveness of the Culinary Arts Pathway.
Constantly (Daily) responsible for the welfare of others.
Normal classroom/school setting. Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less.
NOTE: This is a grade 16, 190-day position that starts at a step 6 and pays for experience up to a step 8.
Salary : $23,910 - $33,252
