Virtual Builder Internship (VBI) - Summer 2024
Do you love design, math and structures? Are you a Lego fanatic? Do you love getting lost in the world of SIMS and Minecraft?
VBI is designed for incoming high school seniors and college level students to engage in a high level internship to learn design related concepts. Students will be immersed in learning and understanding design and estimating fundamentals. This internship is a great way to learn new concepts and connect along with working in a fun, fast paced environment. The internship is a 40-hour per week job that runs Monday-Friday. This is a highly competitive internship that will show you how unique Drexel Building Supply really is!
Bootcamp and Beyond
Virtual is the term for our Builder Internship program. This is an in-person internship (not virtual) that is 40-hours per week between Monday and Friday. Location possibilities include Amherst, Berlin, Campbellsport, Columbus, Kiel, New Berlin or Wrightstown.
Internship bootcamp will begin at Drexel Building Supply in Campbellsport (227 W Main St., Campbellsport, WI) .
Transportation will not be provided. This must be arranged by the intern.
At the conclusion of Bootcamp, interns will report to their summer-long locations, based on placement by the Drexel Training Team and the intern (placements to be determined by January 1, 2024).
Focus areas include: Lumber & Structural Specialist, Residential Designer, Truss or Wall Panel Designer.
Internship begins in May 2024 and will conclude prior to Fall semester.
Requirements/Eligibility
Interested students must:
- Have a strong interest in design, math, structural design, seeking out creative ways to work
- Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Be entering your Senior year of High School or beyond!
- You do not need to be college bound to participate in this program
- Have completed at least 1 year of High School Algebra and Geometry
The internship acceptance is based on a holistic application review.
