Position Summary
The Safety Supervisor is responsible for implementing and overseeing workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, and other regulatory requirements. This role focuses on maintaining a safe working environment in manufacturing, storage, and distribution areas, particularly in a food production setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance & Training:
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety training for employees on proper handling of equipment, hazardous materials, and emergency response.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, and other safety regulations.
- Incident Prevention & Investigation:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses, implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain accident reports and safety records.
- Food Safety & Hygiene:
- Work with quality assurance teams to ensure food safety protocols align with OSHA and FDA standards.
- Monitor PPE use and hygiene practices in ice cream production and storage areas.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Conduct fire drills and ensure emergency equipment is maintained.
- Facility & Equipment Safety:
- Inspect machinery and cold storage areas to ensure safety compliance.
- Ensure safe handling of chemicals, including cleaning agents and refrigeration gases.
- Regulatory & Compliance Reporting:
- Stay up to date with changes in workplace safety regulations.
- Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred).
- 3 years of experience in workplace safety, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Knowledge of OSHA, FDA, and food safety regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and training skills.
- Ability to analyze safety data and implement improvement plans.
- Certification in workplace safety (e.g., OSHA 30, CSP, or similar) is a plus.
Work Environment:
In this position, the employee will regularly work with and around others; in a wet and/or humid environment; in areas of high noise level; and around mechanical, electrical, and pressurized equipment. The work is fast paced.
The position involves frequent exposure to nuts and other potential allergens.
The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The pay range for prospective employees in this role is between $85,000 and $105,000 per year.
