Role and Activity
Safety
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures
- Take an active role to ensure that personal safety and the safety of others is never compromised
- Strive to make our facility a safer place to work through compliance with regulatory and plant safety guidelines.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings
Quality
- Comply with the Good Manufacturing Practices as outlined by the plant Quality department
- Actively participate in preventing and correcting quality related errors
- Plant Citizenship and Interactions (Grooves)
- Communicate and interact with others in a manner consistent with the company’s “Grooves” and “I Can Make A Difference Philosophies”.
- Initiate, organize, and actively participate in team meetings, committees and task forces.
- Exceed expectation with regard to attendance and other guidelines.
Operational
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of Maintenance Technicians daily based on production schedule
- Review work orders and preventative maintenance needs, taking into account such factors as priority, production schedules, and material/parts availability. Assign Technicians based on skills required.
- Assign Maintenance Technicians in response to request from production, recognizing the areas requiring immediate response to prevent downtime.
- Review downtime recap sheets on a daily basis and discuss with the Technicians where improvements can be made
- Develop and distribute Preventative Maintenance schedules for equipment. Continuously re-evaluate PM schedules for optimal efficiency
- Ensure work order assignments are completed in a timely manner
- Develop work schedules to utilize Maintenance skills and personnel availability
- Review requisitions with requesting Maintenance staff before signing to ensure every dollar spent is justified in the budget
- Work on system-wide Maintenance network team to ensure coordination of activities, plans, problem-solving, and other plant wide issues
- Participate in planning, scheduling, and supporting weekend coverage rotation as necessary
- Develop and implement skill building plans for individuals and the department, including standard operating procedures
Specifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of Utilities/Facilities/Production equipment
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience preferred
Competencies/Skills/Knowledge:
- PC proficiency as well as excellent organizational and communication skills are a must
- Ability to develop a strong maintenance team in a high performing environment
- Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
- Knowledge in automatic controls is desired
- Project management experience
- Planning, scheduling, and budgeting experience
- CMMS/work order experience

Work Environment:
In this position, the employee will regularly work with and around others; in a wet and/or humid environment; in areas of high noise level; and around mechanical, electrical, and pressurized equipment. The work is fast paced.
The position involves frequent exposure to nuts and other potential allergens.
The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The pay range for prospective employees in this role is $44.00 to $46.50 per hour.
