Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Analyst to join our Tax Department. The ideal candidate will assist to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local income tax filings and support various tax and accounting related activities. This role is pivotal in maintaining the accuracy of our financial and tax records and contributing to the overall efficiency of our tax operations. This position is a contract-to-hire situation with the intention of converting to a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting and Tax Operations
- Process and make quarterly tax payments for the corporation and inpat employees.
- Prepare adjusted journal entries to record into the GL.
- Create and maintain trackers of tax return filings, payments, extensions, and notices to ensure completeness and timely filings.
- Assist in reviewing state returns, preparing workpapers and reports
- Assist with preparing correspondences with various government agencies on tax issues.
- Assist with monthly reconciliations of income tax accounts.
- Prepare tax forms, as needed.
- Process and organize income tax returns for filing and record retention.
- Collaborate with accounting and other departments to gather information needed for tax filings and compliance.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Tax Books
- Assist with analyzing fixed asset data in JDE fixed asset system, making adjustments to ensure accurate accounting of asset cost and depreciation.
- Collaborate with fixed asset accounting department to understand book fixed asset reporting and schedules.
- Reconcile book and tax reports.
- Assist with researching tax treatment of fixed assets.
- Generate reports and extractions to Excel for analysis and tax reporting.
- Miscellaneous special projects
- Assist with preparing tax-related reports and schedules for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with preparing documentation for government and financial statement audits.
- Perform research on tax related issues.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in tax accounting or a similar role.
- CPA or progress towards certification or advance degree in taxation is desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong Excel knowledge and able to work with large amount of data (Lookups, Pivots, Sumifs, Pivot Tables)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint)
- JDE General Ledger and Fixed Asset Application desired, but not required.

The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The pay scale disclosed below has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The pay range for prospective employees in this role is between $70,000 to $90,000 per year.
