Job Summary: Responsible for performing Computer Tomography (CT), Radiography (X-Ray) and Dexa procedures. Properly operate Computed Tomography, Radiography, and Dexa equipment. Ensuring professional interaction and communication with the patient/family, center staff, Referring Providers/staff and Radiologists.
Essential Job Function
- Perform CT procedures.
- Perform general Radiography procedures.
- Perform Dexa procedures.
- Responsible for performing IV’s on patients as necessary for contrast injections.
- Perform contrast injections in the CT department.
- Set up and properly use the power injector in accordance to manufacture’s guidelines.
- Perform i-Stat creatinine testing.
- Verify hardcopy/electronic physician orders and ensure correct procedures are being performed.
- Welcome and escort patient to the dressing room, explain procedures, and answer patient questions.
- Screen for pregnant patients, ensure proper patient positioning and use lowest amounts of radiation (ALARA) while maintaining image integrity.
- Verify that procedures are ready for interpretation by a Radiologist in the PACS.
- Maintain accurate patient records in RIS and PACS, but not limited to QC logs, service records and technologist sheets.
- Ensure proper handling of STAT exams.
- Practice infectious control procedures and ensure overall safety practices at all times.
- Oversee maintenance and provide troubleshooting of CT equipment; ensure use of equipment consistent with manufacturer’s or service instructions.
- Track, order and maintain CT related medical supplies as needed or directed.
- Stock and maintain linens properly.
- Open/close clinics including the activation/deactivation of alarms.
- Keep up with and ensure own work schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned including administrative backup and support.
Educational and Skill Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a CT Technologist.
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Radiographer.
- Certified by the State of Texas to practice and administer radiation.
- Have current, unrestricted registration or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or from another recognized certification agency for each ADI modality performed.
- Have an associate or bachelor’s degree in radiologic science whenever required, with the requisite job experience.
- Complete ongoing continuing education as required by the license, certification, and medical director’s directives.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge of anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, out-patient imaging procedures.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Proficient in the use of office computer systems directly related to the job function.
- Ability to multi-task and remain detailed and organized.
- Ability to communicate and respond to questions in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.
