What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audiology Technician position at DRH Health?

Assist Audiologist, physician, and/or advanced practice providers with audiology tasks and by greeting, instructing, and directing patients and visitors. Perform minor hearing aid repairs and assembly. Register patients and receive payments. Serve as a liaison between patient and medical support staff.


RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

  • Turn on equipment in the morning and off in the afternoon.
  • Clean audiology booth and supplies.
  • Order audiology and hearing aid supplies and batteries.
  • Update and entering patient information in audiology databases.
  • Prepare (and charge) hearing aids and paperwork for dispense appointments.
  • Perform minor hearing aid repair; Ship hearing aids for repair or warranty work.
  • Maintain spreadsheet to track hearing aid sales.
  • Greet patients in a courteous and helpful manner.
  • Answer multiline telephone. Take messages, provide information, and direct calls throughout the office.
  • Schedule and reschedule patient appointments as required.
  • Collect all demographic and insurance information on patients with accuracy. Verify patient insurance for coverage and benefits.
  • Receive payments and prepare daily payment packet for the Central Billing Office with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Open, sort, and distribute mail.
  • Scan all medical charting information into computer to make available for physician/provider viewing in a prompt manner. Update demographic and insurance information when required. Copy/print medical records and fax or mail as appropriate.
  • Travel to and fill in at other clinics as needed.
  • Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
  • Must adhere to safety protocols at all times.
  • Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
  • Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
  • Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations.
  • This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools. Accuracy is critical when executing orders and preparing CBO payment packet. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations.


Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED. Previous healthcare clinic experience preferred. Previous EMR experience preferred. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position. Ability to travel to various clinics around the facility.


Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license in good standing and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
