Under general direction, the Mammography Technologist performs mammographic procedures, quality assurance, and quality control activities on all exams performed in the department to meet ACR accreditation and federal regulations.
Responsibilities (essential Functions)
Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills with information technology associated with the position including a familiarity with sending/receiving email, related software, and use of Electronic Health Record (EHR) information tools. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to emergent or urgent situations. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Radiologic Technology experience as an ARRT (R) Technologist preferred. Minimum of 1 year of experience required in Mammography including related testing and quality control in Mammography. Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)/Mammography certification or registry eligible through ARRT.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Licensed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered in Mammography. American Heart Association BLS required; May have up to 30 days to earn BLS after date of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities (essential Functions)
- Performs all mammography procedures - screening and diagnostic mammography. Ensures all procedures have accurate documentation including clinical and patient related information.
- Verifies patient identification, confirms physician orders, obtain patient medical history/consent forms prior to performing any procedure. Assures proper completion of all exams requested, proper labeling of all films and prompt release of all patients upon completion of the exam.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and/or performs daily QC strip, records data in IS System and performs weekly phantom tests on unit as per MQSA/FDA regulations.
- Assists with contacting and following up with patients, tracking critical information for performance improvement, and ensuring that the reporting radiologist has all necessary information.
- Assists with ordering supplies, maintaining room cleanliness, ensures proper hand washing regimen and all equipment used safely and according to proper protocols.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Maintains communication and cooperation with radiologists and other ancillary departments regarding changes in protocol, scheduling of procedures, exams performed and patient flow.
- Able to recognize unusual findings in the breast. Reviews prior studies and reports that pertain to current exam ensuring all diagnostic imaging obtained prior to patient leaving.
- Assist in performing DEXA procedures while ensuring that team communication, patient comfort, and satisfaction is the priority.
- Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
- Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Must adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory.
- Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
- Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations.
