Job Summary:
This is a contract-based, per-job role for a Field Service Assistant Technician in the Tampa Bay Area, FL. The technician will be travelling with a Lead Tech to multiple client sites across all of Florida to install equipment and repairing network data lines at customer sites. This position requires travel within a 250-mile radius of the base location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software at client locations.
- Perform Cat6 cabling installations, including in-wall installations, running cables through suspended ceilings, and other structures as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with IT systems, networks, and devices.
- Perform routine maintenance and system updates to ensure optimal performance.
- Provide clear and professional communication with clients to address concerns and offer solutions.
- Document service activities, including diagnostics, repairs, and completed tasks.
- Collaborate with the support team to escalate and resolve complex issues.
- Adhere to company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards during service visits.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in a field service or technical support role.
- Basic knowledge of IT systems, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
- Must have experience with Cat6 cabling, including in-wall installations and ceiling runs.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Required Tools and Equipment:
Contractors must provide their own service van and complete set of tools, including:
- Hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, cable cutters, etc.)
- Drills and drill bits, including extended drill bits and extensions for drilling inside closed walls
- Cable crimper, punch-down tool
- Headlamp, rubber mallet, cable tacker, hammer
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , or equivalent.
- Experience with structured networks, access control, and/or CCTV systems.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and remote troubleshooting tools.
Availability & Travel:
- Must be available Mon-Fri, 8 AM - 5 PM to respond to job requests.
- Must be willing to travel up to 250 miles from the base location.
