POSITION DESCRIPTION:
At DrinkPAK, we are seeking technically skilled and results-driven individuals to join our production team as Packaging Technician Lead. In this role, you will lead and mentor packaging line teams, ensuring optimal equipment performance, efficient changeovers, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. You will drive production goals, manage team development, and foster collaboration, while setting the standard for quality, safety, and efficiency on the packaging floor.
LOCATION: The position is based at DrinkPAK's headquarters in Santa Clarita, California.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Operations and Troubleshooting:
Operate and oversee advanced packaging machinery, including fillers, inspection equipment, depalletizers, palletizers, cartoners, case packers, and robotic systems, ensuring peak efficiency.
Spearhead advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures to identify, resolve, and prevent equipment malfunctions or downtime.
Analyze production data to identify patterns and propose technical improvements for greater efficiency and quality.
Perform basic maintenance tasks to improve equipment efficiency and reliability including but not limited to: mechanical adjustments, lubrication, basic component replacement.
Collaborate with maintenance team to complete preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities on packaging equipment.
Own and use a basic set of tool including but limited to: set of box end wrenches, set of hex key allen wrenches, flash light, screwdriver.
Use CMMS to document and action on equipment work orders and part inventory to deliver improved equipment efficiency.
Understand and describe liquid process equipment functions and purpose
Ability to make physical adjustments to equipment depending on package type or size or eliminate problems.
Inspect packaged products for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards, labels are accurate, and packaging materials are in good condition.
Maintain adequate stock of packaging materials and alert Logistics or Warehouse team of any shortages or issues.
Collaborate with Process Improvement Engineers (PIE) on various process improvement projects to improve line run efficiency
Lead, mentor, and coach a team of packaging operators and junior technicians to ensure consistent performance and development.
Proactively identify training opportunities, providing hands-on instruction to upskill team members on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and best practices.
Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment that promotes accountability, communication, and respect.
Coordinate daily tasks, assign responsibilities, and ensure smooth execution of production schedules.
Quality Assurance and Process Optimization:
Monitor product quality throughout the packaging process, adhering to stringent quality assurance protocols and regulatory standards.
Ensure compliance with packaging specifications, materials, and processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging technical expertise to optimize production lines and reduce waste.
Leadership and Team Development:
Train and mentor operators and junior technicians, providing hands-on guidance in advanced packaging systems and best practices.
Take a leadership role in cross-training programs to ensure team versatility across different packaging equipment and operations.
Support the Packaging Lead in coordinating production schedules and fostering a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
The ability to clearly convey information to team members, supervisors, and other departments regarding packaging processes, challenges, and safety concerns.
Safety and Compliance:
Champion a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and immediately addressing or escalating any unsafe practices or conditions.
Conduct safety checks and participate in audits to ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of production metrics, quality control inspections, and equipment maintenance activities.
Provide detailed technical reports on equipment performance, downtime, and repairs to supervisors and leadership.
Accurately and completely document equipment stoppages, decreased performance or systemic issues in Zarpac
Use communication systems such as radios, phone, text, Teams, email, etc. to relay information as needed.
Effectively report any packaging discrepancies, inventory needs, or equipment malfunctions to respective departments in a timely manner.
Accurately complete packaging logs, production reports, and inventory records as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment preferred but not required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Basic math skills for measuring and recording production data.
Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and perform repetitive tasks.
Flexibility to work evening, weekend, or rotating shifts as needed. Expertise in operating, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of packaging machines (Filler, Inspection Equipment, Depalletizer/Palletizer, Cartoner, Case Packer, Robots, etc.)
Ability to optimize machine settings for maximum efficiency and product quality.
Proficiency in diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues related to packaging equipment.
Advanced understanding of packaging material specifications, process optimization, and workflow improvement.
Experience leading packaging teams and overseeing production lines.
Ability to analyze production data, develop process improvements, and implement new procedures.
Lead changeover process and train other Technicians on multiple machines.
Proficiency in being a Lead.
