Job Title: Junior Camp Counselor

Primary Purpose:
Supervise, engage, and actively participate with campers in kindergarten through fifth grade, ensuring a safe, fun, and inclusive environment during daily activities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Must be current Dripping Springs High School student
- Must be at least 15 years old
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to read and verbally communicate with children, staff, and parents
- Ability to work with groups of children in a positive manner
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Effective organizational and communication skills
- Ability to relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, compassion, and patience
Experience:
- Previous experience working with children is preferred
Work Schedule:
- Monday through Thursday between the hours of 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
- The shift is to be specified by the Community Services Program Coordinator.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support Camp Counselors in leading an assigned group of campers.
- Supervise, engage, and interact with campers during daily activities.
- Actively participate in all camp activities.
- Build positive working relationships with fellow counselor and Community Services Department staff.
- Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating leadership, respect, and enthusiasm for campers.
Other:
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Participate in staff development training, meetings, and special events.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard camp equipment such as toys, playgrounds, athletic equipment, etc.
Posture: Frequent standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping
Motion: Regular walking, climbing, lifting, balancing, and handing or moving materials
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying
Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress and self-control in the presence of children.
