PATHWAYS SCHOOL DIRECTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Pathways School Director will administer the day-to-day operation of Pathways School at Dripping Springs Methodist Church (DSMC), in accordance with the policies approved by the Administrative Council of DSMC. The Pathways Director will have responsibility for all staff, children, and activities of children enrolled in the Pathways School program.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Pray for the church

2. Pray for Pathways children and families

3. Set the educational tone for school: overseeing curriculum development and student assessment practices.

4. Compile and present periodic reports to Church Committees, as directed by Senior Pastor, when needed concerning Pathways School.

5. Work closely with the Director of Children’s Ministries to ensure smooth and supportive program transitions and overlap, especially regarding shared space.

6. Promote partnerships between Pathways School and DSMC staff & congregation, parents, and the Dripping Springs community.

7. Adhere to all licensing requirements as directed by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services through Child Care Licensing.

8. Ensure required safety & health inspections are conducted and comply with all fire codes

9. Interview, hire, on-board, and terminate all employees for Pathways School

10. Plan and conduct Pathways School staff meetings

11. Meet with and evaluate all Pathways staff

12. Interact with all children and parents of Pathways school

13. Monitor classes for Pathways children on a regular basis.

14. Complete and distribute Parent Handbook, Employee Policies and Procedures, and monthly newsletters

15. Coordinate financial assistance for families in need

16. Oversee Student Enrollment procedures including inquiry/tour, registration, and waitlist management.

17. Develop and implement operational systems for the school including, but not limited to: substitute teachers, staff absences, supply purchases, maintenance of equipment and building, and fundraising.

18. Propose annual budget, tuition, salaries and submit to DSMC Finance Committee and Church Business Administrator.

19. Provide requested financial information to Church Business Administrator

20. Attend church staff meetings

21. In the event of an absence from work, assign an official person in charge, if Assistant Director is unavailable and notify the Senior Pastor.

LEVELING REQUIREMENTS

This position is responsible for supervising the following positions:

  • Pathways School Assistant Director
  • All Pathways Staff

This position reports to:

Senior Pastor

EDUCATION

Minimum of four-year bachelor’s degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education. Candidates should have special training and experience in the fields of Early Childhood Education, Business and Finance, and must be able to meet the requirements of the licensing agency. This person must be able to relate well to both children and adults.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires an individual to type, communicate verbally on the phone and in person, stand for prolonged periods of time, sit for prolonged periods of time, walk for prolonged periods of time, and be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is a full-time position. During the months of the school year, employee will work approximately 32 hours per week with designated time-off, if desired.

Director will work one week after Pathways closes at the end of May and two weeks before school opens in August. In addition, the Director will work an additional ten days during the summer to ensure all fall registration needs, staff training requirements, Pathways paperwork, etc. is completed to begin the school year. The days and times for this additional work is completed at the Director’s discretion. Lastly, the Pathways Director will ensure school email is monitored on a regular basis throughout the summer months.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
