About Us: DSYSA serves thousands of youth each year in baseball, basketball, cheer, football, flag football, wrestling, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and is tasked with creating and implementing strategies, initiatives, and policies that align with DSYSA’s mission and values. The Executive Director is responsible for managing day to day operations and ensuring the organization achieves its mission and goals. The organization currently includes nine sports programs, a dedicated sports complex, and a team of staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate for this position is a passionate advocate for youth development, has proven experience in executive management, and possesses a strong ability to drive organizational success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Collaborate with the board of directors to set organizational goals, policies, and initiatives.
- Develop and execute long-term strategic plans aligned with the organization's mission.
- Monitor and adapt strategies in response to emerging opportunities and challenges.
- Keep board members well-informed of issues that arise and provide a detailed organizational review on a quarterly basis.
- Organizational Management:
- Lead and manage all aspects of the organization, including staff, volunteers, and resources.
- Hiring/termination, supervision and evaluation of all paid staff, including administrative, operational, and sports staff, ensuring their roles and responsibilities align with the organization’s goals and values.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of ten sports programs to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, board-approved policies, and community needs. *Individual sports are currently managed day to day by a varying mix of volunteer sport commissioners, coaches, and some paid staff.
- Manage budgeting, financial planning, and fundraising efforts (including grant writing) to sustain and expand programs.
- Ensure all financial transactions, contracts, and agreements are conducted within the scope of board-delegated authority and in compliance with nonprofit financial standards.
- Manage the organization’s physical assets, including property, fields, equipment, and facilities, to ensure proper maintenance, efficient use, and alignment with DSYSA’s goals and budget.
- Community Engagement:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including parents, schools, sponsors, and community partners.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Independent School District (ISD), City officials, and other key stakeholders to negotiate and manage agreements related to facility use, partnerships, and community engagement.
- Represent the organization in public forums, events, and meetings to raise awareness and support for youth sports programs.
- Collaborate with the board of directors to plan and execute diverse fundraising initiatives, including corporate sponsorships, community events, donor relations, and grant writing.
- Advocacy and Impact:
- Advocate for the importance of youth sports and its positive impact on physical and mental well-being.
- Measure and communicate the impact of programs through data collection, analysis, and reporting to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with DSYSA’s mission and strategic goals.
- Foster a culture of inclusivity, respect, and community engagement across all DSYSA programs.
- Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and reporting requirements, as well as enforcement of board-approved policies and procedures.
- Support the board of directors in governance, policy development, and strategic decision-making processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 years in executive leadership
- Substantial experience with sports-related organizations, especially youth sports.
Qualifications:
- Strong financial management and planning skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking abilities.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team.
- Deep understanding of youth development principles and a commitment to creating a supportive environment for youth to thrive in.
- Experience collaborating with a board of directors and working within a nonprofit governance framework.
- Experience with fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
