General Purpose of Job :
Reporting to the Administrative Director, provides clerical and imaging support functions for Radiology Services. This support involves the retrieval of imaging records, response to requests for retrieval and release of Protected Health Information, filing imaging records, record assembly, and report processing. This position requires the use of the electronic imaging system PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), film digitizer, laser printer and medical CD burner in the preparation of images for release to patient, families, physicians, and other outside entities, including legal request for studies. Also provides support by entering and tracking all images received and released to outside entities, including text-based data from RIS (Radiology Information System). Also supports and assists radiologists, staff, ED, and OR with the utilization of PACS and image manipulation. Assist in patient transport as required.

- Following standard protocol, routinely cleans and inspects imaging plates and cassettes.
- Maintains a log of each cleaning and documents the current condition of imaging plate.
- Performs Patient Access functions during lunch and other breaks as required.
- Assist Patient Access staff in scheduling exams and answering phones as required.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with patients / families, physicians, physician offices, management, visitors and other members of the health care team through responsiveness, accuracy of information and professionalism.
- Answers telephone inquiries in a professional manner.
- Readily contributes to a team approach.
- Shows patience, empathy and understanding in dealing with patients / families and coworkers.
- Assesses and responds to individual patient / family needs.
- Coordinates the activities of section with other areas of the facility.
- Communicates with management and others in a prompt and professional manner.
- Reports to work on time and strives to minimize non-productive time.
- Following Protected Health Information (PHI) guidelines, responsible for the preparation and release of imaging records to clinics, physicians, patient families, other healthcare facilities, record companies, and attorneys.
Assures the accurate duplication of imaging studies using computer-based film digitizer and CD Bunder an / or duplicates hard copy film for release to requesting entities.
Ensure films from other facilities have bee requested, properly signed in and distributed to requesting radiologist, physician, or clinic.
