What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Group Leader position at Driscoll Extended Day Program?

The Driscoll Extended Day Program is a non-profit afterschool program that serves students from PK-5th Grade within the Michael Driscoll School in Brookline. Our daily schedule includes both structured programming such as arts and crafts, sports, science, drama, and special events, as well as unstructured “hang-out time”. We strive to promote the social and emotional development of the children by helping them gain self-confidence, positive relationships, decision-making, conflict resolution skills, and independence. We promote an environment that celebrates diversity and respects individual differences.
We are seeking applicants with:
- Experience working with children in grades PK-5th in a structured, recreational setting. (Afterschool and/or camp experience ideal).
- Enthusiasm, creativity, positive attitude, initiative, strong work ethic, and flexibility.
- Experience in planning and running a variety of group activities such as arts and crafts, gym/outdoor games, science, drama, etc.
- Commitment to quality and the desire to make a difference for children and families.
- Ability to make a commitment for the remainder of the current school year.

Hours and Job Duties:
- Approximately 22 hours per week: Monday through Thursday from 2-6:15pm, Friday, 1:15-6:15pm.
- Responsible for assisting Group Leaders in preparing materials, supervision, etc.

Preferred experience:
Working with elementary school children in a structured, recreational environment for at least 1 year
