Job Title:
The Farm Financial Analyst/Data Engineer will play a pivotal role in driving the financial and operational success of our farm operations in Eastern Idaho.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Financial Analysis & Profitability Optimization
- Analyze farm financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Develop financial models to forecast profitability and assess the impact of different growing practices.
- Monitor and report on key financial metrics, including cost per acre, yield per acre, and return on investment (ROI).
Data-Driven Growing Practices
- Use data engineering techniques to analyze crop performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve crop quality while reducing costs through data-driven insights.
- Collaborate with farm operations teams to implement best practices based on analytical findings.
Farm Information System Management
- Maintain and update the farm information system to ensure accurate and timely data collection.
- Develop dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs)/Key Metrics.
- Ensure data integrity and security across all farm systems.
Statistical Analysis & Predictive Modeling
- Apply statistical methods to analyze historical data and predict future outcomes.
- Build predictive models to optimize planting schedules, irrigation, and harvest timing.
- Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of different variables on farm performance.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with farm managers, agronomists, and financial teams to align data insights with operational goals.
- Prepare and present detailed reports to senior management, highlighting actionable recommendations.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in agriculture and data science.
Qualifications:
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies (e.g., GPS, remote sensing, IoT sensors)
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and their impact on farm profitability
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Data Science, Agricultural Economics, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, data science, or agricultural analytics
- Experience in the agriculture industry or with farm operations is a strong plus.
