What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator I position at DriSteem Corporation?
In shipping, pick, pack, and coordinate the product shipment in a manner that ensures timely delivery while providing optimum service of undamaged products at proper destinations by Dristeem quality standards and meeting or exceeding the customer’s expectations. In Receiving, this position receives all material arriving through purchase orders, transfers, customer returns, and inventory adjustments.
Shipping Responsibilities
- Prepare products for shipment, including staging, packaging, and processing sales orders, in an organized manner to ensure high quality. Confirm that the correct packaging and proper quantities are shipped.
- Prepare shipping documents, labels, commercial invoices, USMCA Certificates, Bills of Lading in designated shipping software programs, and any other required documentation. Ensure shipping paperwork is completed correctly and accurately.
- Arrange for freight pickup and generate bills of lading and other required paperwork for domestic and international shipments using DriSteem or customer-specified carriers.
- Manually or mechanically load materials to trucks or other transport vehicles.
- Communicate internally to resolve issues and answer questions regarding orders. Communicate the order shipment status, shipment specification, or any other requested information.
Receiving Responsibilities
- Receive and coordinate incoming shipments.
- Properly label and store materials in the assigned location.
- Store or deliver merchandise to the correct warehouse or cell location as determined by system location and production requirements.
- Ensure the storage point of use in production cells is appropriate.
- Check all incoming products against the purchase order to determine shortages/overages and damage. Record variances and notify buyers of the need to reorder where needed.
- Perform accurate data entry transactions within the ERP system and accurately record information to ensure material traceability/accountability. Record inventory movement for items in the stockroom for several applications, including MRB.
- Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
General Responsibilities

- Safety: Complies with company safety and health rules and policies and promotes safe work practices. Report any safety concerns to a supervisor/manager.

- Compliance: Ensures all processes are compliant with all regulatory bodies and with company and department policies and procedures as applicable.
- Accountable to work cross-functionally with shipping/receiving as needed.
- Supports Lean initiatives, maintains the work area neat and orderly, works safely, and complies with all established rules and work practices.
- Monitor the cost and effectiveness of activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and achieve timeliness, reliability, and safety standards.
- Work with external vendors as needed.
- Keeps the supervisor informed of job-related problems and other information related to work activity.
- Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
Experience
- 1 - 2 years’ related experience required.
- Ability to operate a forklift or pass a forklift certification.
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office Products such as Excel and Word.
- Intermediate level of ERP system and other technologies.
- Intermediate level of experience with math and problem solving preferred.
Key Quality and Skills
- Valid Minnesota State driver’s license.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously; multitasking is essential to daily operations.
- A DOT physical is required for Class C to drive a dock truck.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and cooperative.
- Basic knowledge of the proper use of hand tools.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively with all levels in the organization and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple varied tasks, finding resources as needed.
- High energy and able to think quickly.
- Displays a positive attitude and a powerful desire to learn and grow.
Compensation: This role offers a pay range of $19.82 - $28.43/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
