Summary (Major Purpose of the Role):
Provides on-the-job warehouse training for new and current employees including safety and other key job functions within the warehouse. The Distribution Center Trainer’s purpose is to conduct training programs and deliver training in a consistent, engaging and effective manner. The Trainer will train associates on warehouse functions/operations through classroom and hands on training specific to their job function.
The primary product lines you’ll oversee are durable medical goods ranging from canes to wheelchairs, in-home hospital beds and respiratory products. These products are critical to the lives of our customers and you’ll be a part of leading this team in driving best-in-class metrics in Safety, Quality, Service, and of course, our People.
Main Activities/Responsibilities:
- Trains DC associates to accurately, consistently, & safely use warehouse management systems, along with material handling equipment & supplies
- Follows and applies standard work and work instructions
- Ensure the compliance of safety norms to include maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area
- Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers, instructors, and customer representatives
- Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training for employees and customers
- Carry out overall or individualized training and development plans that addresses needs and expectations of the company

- Organizes, schedules, and monitors, tracks and evaluates training program(s) effectiveness and success
- Design, develop courses and programs using multiple training vehicles (video, documentation, and practical exercises)
- Provide feedback, support, training & guidance to associates’
- Share feedback & observations regarding the associates’ performance with management
- Develops unique training programs to fulfill workers specific needs to maintain or improve job skills
- Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements
- Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback
- Performs other related duties as required
Competencies:
- Experience and familiarity with Warehouse operations and equipment in order to train on the correct usage and processes
- Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives
- Ability to design and implement effective training and development
- Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software
- Familiarity with different training methods
Reporting Relationships and Supervision:
- This position will report to the Distribution Supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- Prior work experience in a Warehouse environment
- Prior experience as a Trainer
- 2-5 years’ experience with training programs in warehouse cultures
- Knowledge of Canadian Center for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), OSHA and EPA* regulations, industrial hygiene, safety processes, ISO and EHS training
- Technical and mechanical aptitude for material handling equipment is required
Your Physical Demands/Work Environment:
• • Physical activity includes walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders and lifting up to 50 lbs or engaging the two person lift if the lbs are more than 50lbs.
• • Performs activities in a warehouse environment. May be subject to changes in temperature and exposure to dust.
