This Web Development Internship provides a hands-on learning experience in website management and search engine optimization (SEO). You will develop practical skills in building and managing websites using WordPress and Duda platforms, as well as gain a comprehensive understanding of organic SEO strategies. By the end of the internship, you will be able to create and optimize websites for better search engine visibility and user experience.

As an intern at Drive Social Media, you'll embark on a transformative journey within a collaborative and rapidly expanding advertising agency. Over the course of this structured 10-12 week program, you'll delve into meaningful projects under industry experts' guidance, fostering personal and professional growth. The internship provides a comprehensive learning experience, offering opportunities to gain hands-on knowledge in SEO, Local SEO, website maintenance, and website building processes. Interns will work on real-world projects, learning best practices for optimizing websites, managing content, ensuring site performance, and implementing effective local search strategies. In addition to practical experience, interns will participate in discussions on industry trends, receive mentorship, participate in internal presentations of work performed, and develop essential technical skills to enhance their expertise in digital marketing and web development.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage websites using WordPress and Duda platforms.
  • Customize websites using themes, plugins, and page builders.
  • Implement basic HTML and CSS for customization purposes.
  • Perform keyword research and implement on-page SEO optimizations (e.g., meta titles, alt texts, headers).
  • Work with tools such as Ahrefs, Google Keyword Planner, and SEMrush to optimize websites.
  • Conduct basic link-building strategies and internal linking for SEO improvement.
  • Learn advanced SEO techniques like site speed optimization, mobile-first indexing, and schema markup.
  • Conduct SEO audits using tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, and Screaming Frog.
  • Set up and track website performance with Google Analytics and Search Console.
  • Monitor traffic, analyze user behavior, and track keyword rankings.
  • Participate in weekly check-ins and performance evaluations.
  • Completion of a final capstone project.

Requirements

Candidates must be able and available to work full-time during the duration of the program at our St. Louis, MO location on a flexible schedule. Schedules will be created on a week-to-week basis to accommodate ideal learning opportunities.

  • Currently enrolled as a rising Junior or Senior in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited university – in Web Development, Computer Science, Digital Marketing, or a related field.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (preferred)
  • Familiarity with website builders (WordPress, Duda) and basic coding languages (HTML, CSS).
  • Basic understanding of SEO concepts and strategies (keyword research, on-page optimization).
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Google Suite and Microsoft Excel

Skills And Experience

  • Basic knowledge of WordPress and Duda website builders.
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS for website customization.
  • Basic understanding of SEO principles such as keyword research, on-page optimization, and link-building.
  • Ability to conduct keyword research and analyze website performance data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting SEO metrics and presenting projects.
  • The ability to analyze campaign performance data and translate that analysis into key insights.
  • Exceptional communication skills; verbal, non-verbal, and written, with the ability to tailor a conversation or a request to each unique individual (clients and employees alike) to achieve a desired outcome
