Interested in becoming a Driving Instructor and mentoring teens?

Behind-the-Wheel Instructors teach students to drive safely and responsibly in one-on-one driving lessons behind the wheel of a DriveSafe vehicle. Our BTW Instructors share their expertise of the rules of the road and create an interactive and supportive learning environment that sets up our students for success.

As part of our interview process, in addition to meeting with members of our hiring team to discuss the position and your qualifications, we ask candidates to attend a "job shadow ride-along" where you will sit-in and observe an actual 2-hour behind-the-wheel driving lesson in progress. This allows our candidates to experience first hand what it is like to be a Behind-the-Wheel Instructor with DriveSafe.

Requirements

• 23 years of age or older
• Colorado Driver's License
• Safe driving history - a Motor Vehicle Record check will be reviewed
• 16 hour/week minimum commitment needed
• Demonstrated teaching or mentoring abilities
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Basic computer literacy including familiarity/comfort using software applications and the ability to adapt and learn new digital tools as needed
• Bilingual / Spanish speaking is a plus

Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements include operating a motor vehicle (compact sedans e.g. Toyota Corolla), moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in tight and confined spaces, remaining in a stationary sitting position for prolonged periods, and moving objects up to 25 pounds.

Job Purpose and Responsibilities

Teach students to drive safely and responsibly. Provide detailed knowledge of the rules of the road while creating an interactive and supportive learning environment. Complete state-mandated paperwork accurately. Communicate with family members details of the student's progress. Clean and service the company-provided vehicle.
