Job Title: Laser Operator

Reports To: Shop Supervisor
Position Summary: Set up and operate Laser. Run production lots, load and unload machine, deburr/ clean parts, detect bad parts and machine malfunctions. Ability to or learn to verify prints, nest parts, implement appropriate changes and improve output to align with goals for current and future company growth. Analyze the product under various working conditions and confirm product meets all customer requirements. Communicate with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintain safe, organized and clean work environment.
Essential Functions:
• Set up, nest, start up, load, operate, unload, clean, inspect, and shut down the Laser as primary function
• Operate the Laser to maximize efficiency and throughput
• Maximize the nesting of parts & set up machine to ensure parts are run most efficiently and maximize quality
• Verify all print files match product
• Inspect parts and measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy and confirm customer requirements are met
• Inspect laser cut parts per ISO requirements.
• Complete and maintain all paperwork for the Laser area and complete database entry.
• Work with Shop Supervisor and Purchasing to develop production schedule based on Laser product demands
• Work with purchasing to ensure OTD delivery requirements are met on a consistent basis
• Edit, modify, and set up all Fiber Laser functions in the software and physical machine
• Read and interpret prints and technical drawings
• Learn and understand shop flow, manufacturing processes, find improvements in manufacturing and flow processes
• Analyze, identify and implement manufacturing process improvements which will improve capability and performance
• Troubleshoot problems or out of tolerance occurrences for items and implement sounds solutions to eliminate reoccurrence
• Participate in teams to help make necessary improvements and changes to all process related issues in the production departments
• Meet with the members of the production team to offer recommendations and share results
• Perform tasks using AutoCAD, Solidworks, Micro station
• Occasional use of 3D modeling, 2D drawing, print creation and modification
• Interface with customers as needed
• Expressing good communication skills to work with different departments within the organization
• Communicate well both written and verbally
• Create customer requested sign off prints as needed
• Develop and maintain Process logs for the following
o Laser maintenance troubleshooting
o Laser troubleshooting procedures (operation, cut conditions)
o Laser start up procedures
o Laser operation procedures
o Laser nesting procedures
o Laser set up procedures
o Laser shut down procedures
o Laser cleaning procedures
o Laser software operation and procedures
o Laser software troubleshooting
• Other duties as assigned
Minimal Qualifications: The candidate must be personable, motivated, and a represent the values of Teamwork, Ownership, Positive Behavior, and Growth. Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use basic hand-held measuring tools. Candidate must be able to work independently, act decisively, and have above average planning and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Well-developed operational skills and excellent customer relations skills. Availability to travel as needed.
Experience: Word, Excel, Solidworks, 2D, 3D cad software capabilities
Education: High School Diploma
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret metal rule.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations and develop sound solutions for success.
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Use of hoist or other lifting equipment for weight over 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Must be able to work in various ambient temperatures, particularly warmer temperatures.
Telephone, Standard office equipment, 40 hours work expected per week during company operating hours. Proficient in MS Office software, especially MS Excel and Solidworks.

Housekeeping Assist and implement good housekeeping practices with supervisors and employees.
