ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION
Dallas Risk Management (DRM) is a Managing General Underwriter, or MGU, for health insurance policies. Position Summary
The Executive Underwriter plays a critical role in risk assessment, pricing strategy, and relationship management. This position requires working collaboratively with the Director of Underwriting and independently to manage large, complex risks, develop underwriting strategies, and negotiate terms and pricing with producers. Additionally, the Executive Underwriter will drive business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and optimizing underwriting practices for profitability and efficiency. The role also includes mentoring junior underwriters, collaborating with internal teams, and leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
Core Underwriting & Risk Management
- Evaluates risk and underwrites Traditional Stop Loss Medical products in accordance with established underwriting guidelines, policies and established authority levels.
- Ensure underwriting decisions align with company risk appetite and guidelines.
- Analyze client demographics, plan documents and experience to ensure appropriate pricing. (from SR UW JD)
- Contributes to DRM profitability by analyzing and assessing client profitability through experience and expense analysis and attention to assigned account performance.
