DroneShield is looking to recruit Trade Compliance Manager who will be a critical member of the legal function and US team. About the role
The position is located in Virginia, US and will report to the General Counsel based in Sydney, Australia. The Trade Compliance (TC) Manager is a pivotal and collaborative role designed for an experienced professional in import and export compliance, particularly within a manufacturing environment. The TC Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with a range of regulations, including ITAR, EAR, US Customs, OFAC, FARS / DFARS and other relevant trade laws and regulations. As a subject matter expert, the TC Manager will provide guidance to senior leadership and engage in strategic initiatives that align with the company"s goals. The responsibilities include drafting and managing training on compliance policies, creating standard processes and checklists, and developing efficient methods for routine import and export activities. The TC Manager will also monitor regulatory changes and communicate necessary updates to employees, ensuring that the organization remains compliant with evolving laws. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with engineers to complete jurisdiction classifications that support new product development and integrations in Australia and the US.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
- Manage the import and export compliance program
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate open communication and robust compliance
- Draft and submit export licenses for commodities and technical data
- Manage all authorizations and technology transfer plans
- Prepare written jurisdiction classifications for commodities and technical data
- Draft and implement policies and procedures enabling smoother business practices involving DroneShield's US company
- Oversee the denied-party screening program
- Support internal investigations
- Supervise and assist with audits
- Utilize IT systems that contain and manage export-controlled technical data
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
US citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance if needed to carry out the responsibilities of the position is required.
