What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at Drost Landscape?
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction and oversight of construction projects. They are responsible for initial contact of new construction work orders while remaining the point of contact for their existing clients' construction needs. Their role involves bidding, selling, planning, and ensuring project meets quality standards and deadlines. This also includes scheduling the crews, equipment, and materials necessary to complete the projects sold.
Essential functions:
- Conduct walk-through with client and landscape architect to discuss scope of work for all new construction projects. Develop estimates for each.
- Manage projects for clients with regular site visits, address concerns, and sell additional work.
- Communicate and ensure subcontractors are completing assigned work properly.
- Generate as-builds through the construction process, coordinating with landscape architects and client.
- Work with Manager of Logistics and Procurement to create schedules and staffing requirements to support them.
- Maintain stock levels of routine materials and procure special items as needed.
- Maintain adherence to the proposed production schedule.
- Review regular division reports for alignment with profitability, sales, and revenue goals. Adjust course as needed to support.
- Confirm hours and materials used for billing accuracy in relation to down payment, percent of project complete, and final invoice.
- Provide feedback to Design Build Manager of performance and behavioral issues of staff on their projects and job sites.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local governing bodies according to industry standards.
- Maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills and Experience:
- 5-7 years industry-specific supervisory or management experience.
- Industry specific certifications such as CGIP or CNM, preferred.
- Strong ability to multi-task and exercise efficiencies in time management.
- Superior interpersonal skills with clients, colleagues, and direct reports both verbally and written.
- Beginner to intermediate skills with MS Office Suite.
- Prior Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system experience, preferred.
- Possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License. A CDL with class A endorsement, preferred.
