Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting patients with their eyewear needs, including fitting and dispensing glasses and contact lenses. This role requires a strong understanding of optical products and services, as well as the ability to provide exceptional customer service in a clinic or retail environment.
Duties
- Greet patients and assess their eyewear needs through consultations.
- Accurately fit and dispense eyeglasses based on prescriptions.
- Provide education to patients regarding lens options, frame styles, and proper eyewear care.
- Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with medical billing and coding for insurance claims related to optical services.
- Manage inventory of optical products, ensuring availability of frames and lenses.
- Utilize retail math skills to assist in sales transactions and inventory management.
- Stay updated on the latest optical technology and trends within the industry.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Optician or in a similar role within an optical or ophthalmology setting is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems is a plus but not required.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing eyewear prescriptions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Retail sales experience is beneficial, particularly in understanding retail math concepts.
