Job Summary:
The Carrier Sales Manager at DRT Transportation plays a critical role in overseeing and enhancing our carrier operations. This position involves managing a team of Logistic Coordinators to ensure our freight movement operations are both efficient and effective. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the 3PL and Freight Broker industry dynamics, combining leadership, strategic foresight, and practical management skills to drive performance and align with our company's objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Management: Direct, mentor, and manage the team of Logistic Coordinators. Implement structured training programs, regular performance reviews, and one-on-one coaching sessions to foster professional growth and ensure operational excellence.
- Operational Oversight: Supervise the day-to-day activities of the carrier sales team, including load booking, capacity sourcing, and the coordination of freight movements. Ensure all operations meet our high standards for service delivery, efficiency, and profitability.
- Strategic Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline logistics solutions. Your primary objectives will include enhancing customer service quality, reducing transit times, lowering transportation costs, and driving process improvements for operational efficiency.
- Carrier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain enduring relationships with carriers. Negotiate competitive rates, ensure service reliability, and expand our carrier network to support our growth strategy.
- Performance Analysis: Regularly analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to carrier performance, transit times, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and adjustments to operations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all carrier operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards, environmental regulations, and transportation laws. Keep abreast of changes in legislation that could impact our operations.
- Technology Integration: Oversee the implementation and utilization of transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technologies to enhance operational efficiency, tracking, and reporting capabilities.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks in carrier operations, such as service disruptions or financial instability of carriers, and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks. Implement risk assessment protocols to safeguard company interests.
- Customer Liaison: Serve as a point of escalation for customer issues related to carrier services, ensuring swift resolution and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Participate in client meetings to discuss service performance and future needs.
- Training and Development: Beyond regular training, initiate and support continuous learning programs for the team, focusing on industry trends, new technologies, and soft skills to enhance overall team capability.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in the freight industry or brokerage, with a proven track record in leading teams within the transportation sector.
- Strong analytical skills for strategic planning and decision-making.
- Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a focus on building long-term business relationships.
- Commitment to DRT's values of professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
- Knowledge of logistics software and TMS is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance in the transportation industry.

- Minimum of 2 years of team leadership or management experience.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
