Drug Hunter provides biotech and pharmaceutical companies worldwide with a subscription knowledge base that helps R&D professionals discover the medicines of the future. Our team is seeking a consultative Strategic Account Executive to continue Drug Hunter's rapid expansion within our major accounts globally.
This role will be responsible for managing new and existing relationships end-to-end with the world's largest pharmaceutical and life sciences organizations, with initial annual contract values (ACVs) of $60k-$240k USD/yr with growth potential >$1M/yr. In this role, you will identify, qualify, nurture, close, and onboard new customers and expand business relationships with existing customers.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to effectively teach customers why Drug Hunter is different from any other existing services and why our customers find Drug Hunter so valuable. You will need to assist multiple stakeholders within each account, help establish proof-of-concept through team demos, arrange domestic and international site visits to build relationships and effectively address concerns, and work in enterprise sales cycles involving enterprise budgeting, legal, IT, and procurement review processes.
Location:
Remote position based in the US, ideally based in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area or a biotech hub such as Boston, San Diego, or San Francisco. Domestic and international travel required (typically 20-30%, but up to 50% during busy seasons).
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Account Sales & Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within strategic accounts through virtual and in-person meetings.
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, collaborating with internal teams to ensure high levels of client satisfaction, retention, and growth.
- Understand clients' business needs and objectives, and align Drug Hunter's solutions to address these needs effectively. Conduct regular meetings and reviews with clients to assess satisfaction, gather product feedback, address issues, and identify opportunities for additional value.
- Negotiate and successfully close contracts for Drug Hunter with biotech & pharma clients in designated accounts/areas.
- Assist CEO and C-Level executives with commercial activities and key client accounts as needed.
Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, i.e. marketing, product development, and customer support, to enhance client experience and product satisfaction.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior sales and sales support team members, sharing best practices and strategies for sales and account management.
- May recruit & manage team members in sales or account management.
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Market Intelligence and Reporting:
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitive landscape to effectively position Drug Hunter's offerings.
- Maintain and update CRM, provide quarterly reporting on account performance (headwinds/tailwinds), and provide forecasts to senior management.
- Analyze account performance insights and leverage intelligence to refine strategies and improve results.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 7 years experience in sales or business development, with 5 years of experience selling to enterprise-level organizations
- Track record of success in new product sales, ideally in a startup environment
- Full-cycle sales experience, including prospecting, pre-sales, and post-sales
Pay and Perks:
Drug Hunter takes a market-based approach to pay. The candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location. For this role the base salary range is $125k-$175k. However, because this role is eligible to participate in Drug Hunter's uncapped variable compensation plan, it is common for employees in this role to receive total on-target earnings of $200k-$300k.
