The Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) addresses the harms of drug use and drug criminalization through policy solutions, organizing, and public education. We advocate for a holistic approach to drugs that prioritizes health, social supports,and community wellbeing. DPA has 40 staff across the U.S. an annual operating budget of approximately $12 million, and 200,000 members, activists, and supporters. The organization has a solid track record of success at the local, state, and federal levels and consistent visibility in prominent media and policy circles.
Recognizing the broad reach of the drug war, DPA works across issue areas to engage more deeply with organizations and leaders in immigration, family policing, education, reproductive justice, housing, and other aligned spaces. This commitment to building power across movements and building a base contributes to and works in tandem with DPAs work on policy and legislative change.

The Role :
The Development Operations Coordinator is the backbone of our development team. In this dynamic role, you will gain valuable hands-on development experience. You will engage with all aspects of operational support and have exposure to the full spectrum of development activities, creating meaningful opportunities for professional growth.
General Salesforce Administration (45%)
Manage the development database and serve as the departments Salesforce lead by :
- Processing gifts in Salesforce, including individual donations, grants, soft credits, and multiyear pledges.
- Ensuring data integrity in Salesforce, including updating, creating, and deduping records and conducting mass data edits to maintain accurate donor records.
- Making system updates to the database, including adding new fields and automations, which suit the needs of the Development Department.
- Staying up to date on the latest Salesforce trends and features in order to make recommendations to the Development team to improve existing processes.
- Assisting Development team members to create reports and lists as needed.
Membership and Acquisition Program Support (30%)
Assist in the administration and execution of direct mail and email campaigns for the Membership and Acquisition program, including :
Finance and Reconciliation (25%)
Provide accurate and timely financial reporting, including :

Strong knowledge of Salesforce and Excel; familiarity with additional Salesforce add-ons (Pardot / Account Engagement, Apsona, NPSP) is a plus.
Compensation :
This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $67,000-$72,000, depending on the level of experience. Benefits for DPA staff include comprehensive health insurance and coverage (including dental and vision), 403b retirement plan with 10% employer matching contribution, paid time off including 20 days of vacation, plus national holidays, sick days, organizational closure at the end of December, and Year-round early dismissal on Fridays.
Location :
This role is based in New York City. The Development Operations Coordinator is expected to be onsite 2-3 days per week and may work remotely other days.
