Position Summary
Drummond Projects is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Architect to serve as Project Director, leading and managing construction projects from inception to completion. This role requires a proactive leader who can effectively communicate with stakeholders and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within scope.
The Project Director is poised to play a critical role in the overall development of projects and growth of the company. The ideal candidate exhibits a strong ability to manage a team and multiple deadlines, along with a demonstrated proficiency in conceptual and schematic design, design presentation, project administrative responsibilities, and construction documentation. This person is enthusiastic about architecture and building with excellent verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and exudes professionalism in the workspace.
The ability to effectively manage a design team to develop compelling and functional architectural solutions to complex design problems and schedules are critical. A balanced leadership style and the ability to work both independently in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a project team and with the client is essential.
Responsibilities as Project Director
- Lead development of scope of work and contractual agreements for new projects
- Prepare proposal requests for consultants
- Develop and track project milestone and schedule deliverables for execution
- Assist establishing a project budget and track time and resources spent on a project with
the goal to maximize profitability
- Provide updated project documentation for internal and external use, such as project
scope (Basis of Design), team lists including client and consultant information.
- Develop and maintain a team task schedule for ongoing short and long term tasks in the
project
- Communicate with client as point person and representative of Drummond Projects
- Prepare for client meetings and follow up on any client requests with Drummond Project
partner and team
- Present Design to client and represent Drummond Projects in all other project meetings
with any external agencies
- Work with the team as a group for best team dynamic as well as with team members
individually on a daily basis to assure design quality and timeliness
- Assure timely delivery of project submission office internally as well as established
milestone submissions with the client
- Check all distributed content from team to project parties (client, consultant etc)
- Check design progress and drawing sets on a regular basis and direct team through all
necessary steps to assure quality of final project product.
- Assist with the development of Drummond Projects design standards, processes, and
policies and see that they are applied accurately by team
- Researching and maintaining knowledge of various engineering disciplines, application
methods, and materials.
- Ensure all plans are compliant with governmental health and safety regulations.
- Present design updates to clients and coordinate with any external agencies pertaining to
the Project as a representative of Drummond Projects.
- Manage Project progress and deliverables on a regular basis and oversee direction of DP
design team through QA and QC processes in accordance with DP design standards.
- Lead the coordination and review of design and construction, submittals, product
selections, and multiple bids for each trade.
Requirements as Project Director
- 7 years of progressive professional experience as an Architect, preferably US-based
- Master's degree in Architecture
- Licensed or on track to licensure in the DC and Metropolitan area
- Willingness to work overtime as required
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Self-motivated and dependable
- Brilliant interpersonal and networking skills
- Detail-oriented and highly analytical
- In-depth understanding of BIM, CAD, Revit and Rhino software.

In-person start date: Immediately
Compensation: Starting salary of $120,000/annually and $5,000 signing bonus by Drummond Projects as an employee under Drummond Projects, LLC, which is payable subject to all applicable local, state and federal payroll taxes.
Work Hours: Office hours are 9am-5pm. 40 hours per week is the minimum required per week.
