The Financial Accountant is responsible for helping the CFO oversee and manage the financial accounting functions of the company. This role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, assisting with establishing financial controls, and providing financial insights to support business decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Accounting:
o Assist with overseeing the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
o Assist with managing the fixed asset ledger, including setting up a process to tag assets and having vendors adjust invoices to clearly reflect capital purchases.
o Assist with monitoring inventory purchases and booking monthly utilization of inventory, as well as performing monthly cycle counts and booking any adjustments needed.
o Assist with converting from cash basis accounting to U.S. GAAP accounting.
o Assist CFO with evaluating revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
o Assist with booking accruals and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
o Assist with month-end and quarter-end closing processes, including proposing adjustments based on completion of reconciliations and review of financial data.
o Identify and recommend improvements to processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
2. Internal Controls:
o Assist the CFO with developing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls and accounting policies.
3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis:
o Assist in establishing an annual budget and financial forecast process.
o Monitor forecast performance against actuals and provide variance explanations.
4. Regulatory Compliance:
o Assist with the preparation of audit materials and respond to auditor inquiries as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial accounting.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize.
- Experience working in Sage Intacct a plus.
- Experience with system integrations a plus.
Working Conditions:
Office-based.
