What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Technician position at Dry Creek Vineyard, Inc.?
WHO WE ARE:
Dry Creek Vineyard, one of Sonoma County’s premier family-owned legacy wineries, is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our incredible team! We are a collection of passionate professionals whose dedication to fine wine and connecting with others is at the heart and soul of each bottle that we produce. Now in our 53rd year of operation, we are firmly committed to a “No Compromises” mentality, producing appellation-focused, terroir-driven, varietal-defining wines. We are 100% certified sustainable, and we care deeply about our wines, our customers, and each other. If our philosophy speaks to you, we want YOU to be a part of our team!
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance tasks on winery equipment and facilities. This includes electrical work, plumbing, winery buildings and vehicles and possible welding and fabrication for winemaking equipment.
You’ve probably been in a maintenance or equipment repair role with three or more years of direct experience under your belt. You have strong knowledge of winery production and winemaking equipment (including winery refrigeration), good electrical expertise, and you’re experienced at making effective plumbing repairs and upgrades. If you have expertise in cutting and welding across a variety of materials, all the better! Perhaps the scope of your current responsibilities is unsatisfyingly narrow, or you’re being stifled by a corporate culture and are looking for a faster-paced and more open environment. If you’ve been in a position where you were pivotal in juggling multiple project deadlines, this role might be a great fit for you! Spanish language skills are a plus.
We’re seeking a dynamic, positive, and analytical mind with a love for creative problem-solving and a hands-on, get-it-done attitude. You enjoy working in an independent, self-motivated environment, and are hungry to help our high-performing departments be more successful! As an essential part of our facilities team, the abilities to make timely repairs, perform basic math calculations and implement projects according to safety guidelines are required as part of the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Performing repairs, modifications and preventative maintenance on all winery equipment and facilities, i.e., “the entire winery”, to completion. This may include basic carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing repairs, and concrete work.
- Maintaining and repairing winery water delivery system, wastewater system, and storm water conveyance system.
- Diagnosing issues with equipment and facility systems and determining required repairs or modifications, including isolation of the malfunction, disassembly of equipment and repair or replacement of bearings, gears, structural components, etc.
- Purchasing supplies for various projects.
- Scheduling and coordinating repairs and maintenance with the Winemaker and Cellarmaster.
- Working with outside service providers to keep vital equipment operational.
- Understanding the environmental impacts and safe use of chemical compounds, as well as spill cleanup procedures.
- Performing work in compliance with state, federal and local regulatory agencies for construction, mechanical and safety standards.
- Operating a forklift to move supplies and equipment and driving company vehicles as required.
