What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Manager position at DS Smith Cambridge?
Supervises shipping employees across 3 shifts; coordinates activities engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, attend daily production meetings and communicate daily with customer service/production and oversee preparation of items for shipment by performing the following duties below and other duties as directed. Must comply and support all applicable GMP’s, Site Security, and Food Packaging Défense requirements that are referenced in the facilities GFSI food packaging safety program.
- Reviews shipping notices, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
- Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Obtain and process orders, including receiving deliveries, registering and distributing packages within the company.
- Determines space requirements and position of shipments of trucks and lays out position of shipment.
- Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
- Oversees loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping and customer specifications.
- Ensure material handling equipment is inspected for defects and notify maintenance or contacts outside service facility for repair.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance of trucks and maintenance reporting.
- Manage warehouse associates, monitoring work, and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment and establish warehouse practices to achieve efficient warehousing.
- Compiles records of unfilled orders/shipping reports.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiencies.
- Adjust errors and complaints/reconcile delivery receipts.
- Ensure materials available for shipping (pallets, containers, etc.)
- Manage inventory at plant and warehouse to include cycle counts.
Responsible for the training of shipping receiving and warehouse employees.
Experience
Required- 3 year(s): Previous experience managing shipping/receiving or warehouse work.
- Employee must be able to drive a forklift and must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Experience with shipping/receiving/inventory software and proficiency in an ERP system such as Amtech, SAP, or similar and MS Office experience.
- Knowledge of Amtech, Kiwi, SAP or similar ERP systems and MS computer skills.
