What are the responsibilities and job description for the Millwright position at DS Smith?
This position requires an individual who will perform a variety of tasks related to the safe and efficient application of the technical skills and knowledge to maintaining industrial machinery, conveyors and mechanical systems associated with the manufacturing of forestry products. Preventative and predictive maintenance practices and zone-based maintenance are an integral part of our Maintenance program. This role offers a challenging, diverse and exciting opportunity to become part of our Maintenance team. The Mechanic will be a key player in a company-wide continuous improvement effort through daily use of troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies.
- Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process.
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery.
- Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders.
- Verify and document repairs made.
- Work in a safe manner using proper PPE.
- Must be safety oriented and comply with ZES
- Able to read and understand drawings and printed instructions
- Must be a self-starter who can work safely under high pressure situations
- Adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts
- Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools
- Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill
- Troubleshooting, performing maintenance work, and working safely with all machinery within the sawmill and planer mill.
