What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Improvement Specialist position at DS Smith?
Support plants in the development of Converting Process Mastery Excellence in our people aiming at improving the Plants main KPIs: efficiency & reliability, fibre efficiency (PACE & Waste) and quality, through complete program.
Ensure good practices for all areas that influence board strength and integrity (TST, FIT, TST) are developed and embedded within each region to deliver consistent and stronger products, supporting the PACE Programme.
Provide technical leadership to and partner with the Operational Teams of each site & Divisional Operational Excellence Director to identify areas for quality improvement and drive controllable waste reduction.
Develop the concept of Future Converting and elaborate the plan to support the plants in upgrading the current assets towards this concept.
Lead the implementation of standardization and maximization of Process Control across our assets’ base, in conjunction with the Divisional Quality Manager and NAPP Engineering Director.
Ensure good practices that preserve the system functionality of our critical assets are developed and embedded within each region to deliver consistent and stronger products. Collaborate with Engineering Improvement Lead to create systems & SOP’s to ensure that the proper standard calibrations, crew care and maintenance programmes are standardized and implemented on our converting assets. (ACE, Calibr8, etc.
Support trials and lead the implementation program of developments that embraces the use of new materials and/or technologies.
Transfer knowledge & expertise, train and educate our teams to develop them into Converting Process Experts & Leaders. Provide expertise to continuous improvement of Converting Training Courses.
