Overview

Our client, a leading Federal Healthcare organization, is seeking an Ab Initio Developer to design and implement data integration solutions for data warehouse and business intelligence systems. The role focuses on orchestrating, deploying, maintaining, and scaling cloud or on-premise infrastructure for big data management with a strong emphasis on reliability, automation, and performance.

Position: Contract to Hire (12-month T2P)

Responsibilities

• 20%: Design, configure, and implement the Data Integration Framework ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• 20%: Develop and maintain data warehouse/data lake infrastructure and manage data using Hadoop/MapReduce platforms.
• 15%: Model data warehouse solutions (cloud & on-premise), including Dimensional Modeling and OLAP.
• 15%: Lead data engineering projects and ETL/ELT activities for structured and unstructured data.
• 15%: Implement best practices for data auditing, reliability, and performance in large-scale data integration projects.
• 10%: Perform data analysis, generate reports, and support data-driven decision-making.
• 5%: Stay updated on industry trends through professional development and networking.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
• 8 years of experience in data engineering & ETL/ELT solutions.
• 5 years of hands-on experience in ETL Development using Ab Initio.
• AWS experience (preferably Kafka, Redshift, Glue).
• 2 years of experience with Cloudera Platform for data integration.
• Proficiency with HDFS, Hive, Impala, Hadoop technologies.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in high-performance queries.
• 1-2 years of experience in Hadoop Platform Data Integration (Cloudera preferred).
• Experience with Ab Initio CDC (Change Data Capture).
• Strong knowledge of OLTP, OLAP, and data warehousing fundamentals.
• Unix/Linux shell scripting experience.
• Ability to work independently & mentor junior developers.
• Java experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile Development practices.
  
  

Additional Information

• Candidates must be based in the DMV area (MD, VA, DC).
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Hybrid role (one day onsite per week in Reston, VA).
