Project Estimators play a critical role in the planning, coordination, and execution of projects at DSC. This position involves estimating DSC projects as well as Boise Concrete projects, and Stellar Development projects. It requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a high level of expertise in construction management and technology tools.
Primary Responsibilities:
Estimating and Proposal Preparation
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for projects managed by DSC and Boise Concrete.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to determine material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Develop comprehensive proposals, including scope of work and pricing.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing for project bids.
- Create takeoffs and material lists using construction management software.
- Ensure all estimates align with company standards and client expectations.
Technology and Tools
- Utilize BuilderTrend or similar CRM software for project management and estimating.
- Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat for estimating and documentation tasks.
- Collaborate with team members using Microsoft Teams to manage remote work and communication.
- Bluebeam proficiency for take offs
Collaboration and Coordination
- Schedule tasks and milestones in coordination with field managers and office staff.
- Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to gather necessary project details and ensure alignment.
- Provide support to management in project planning and execution.
- Facilitate updates and reporting on project costs and timelines.
Administrative Support
- Ensure all project documents, including permits, plans, and reports, are accurate and up to date.
- Track project progress and budgets to ensure adherence to estimated costs.
- Assist in identifying value engineering opportunities to improve project profitability.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: A 4-year degree in Construction Management, Business, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in project estimating, preferably in construction and concrete work.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with BuilderTrend or similar construction CRMs; advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Location: Must reside in the Treasure Valley area of Idaho.
- Work Environment: This is a semi-remote position, so applicants must have a dedicated home office space with access to reliable internet. Field visits will be required to meet with Builders, Homeowners and Commercial customers.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and subcontractors.
- Perform market research to stay updated on industry trends and material costs.
- Maintain compliance with local zoning, safety, and building regulations in all estimates.
- Support DSC and Boise Concrete in securing profitable contracts and delivering exceptional client satisfaction.
DSC’s Project Estimator Support Package:
To ensure success, DSC provides the following tools and resources:
- Software: Access to BuilderTrend, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and any other necessary software tools.
- Hardware: Company-issued PC-based laptop and a second monitor for enhanced productivity.
- Team Support: Regular coordination with field managers, office staff, and leadership to foster a collaborative work environment.
Applicant Requirements:
- Must possess a valid smartphone and provide their own internet access.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
- Reliable transportation and valid drivers license.
Compensation:
- This is a salaried position ranging from $62,400 – $72,800 starting DOE
- This position also includes a company fuel card
- 2 weeks PTO
- Health insurance contribution of $225 per month which can be taken as additional salary.
- Retirement contribution that can be taken as additional salary.
