Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise a team of 13 electricians and instrumentation technicians, ensuring daily tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Oversee training and development programs for electrical and instrumentation teams, ensuring skill progression and compliance with safety standards.
Operational Support & Process Improvement:
- Provide technical assistance and maintenance engineering support to manufacturing operations, driving improvements to existing processes and developing cost-effective manufacturing concepts.
- Evaluate and improve equipment performance through strategic maintenance activities, ensuring operational uptime and minimizing downtime.
Plant Equipment Reliability & Maintenance:
- Ensure the long-term reliability and availability of plant electrical and instrumentation systems by balancing operational, maintenance, and engineering activities.
- Oversee and ensure proper maintenance of electrical equipment, general building wiring, motors, drives, control systems, and power distribution.
- Lead the maintenance of DCS, PLC, and other control equipment, ensuring continuous operation without failure.
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis:
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues using systematic methods, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Participate in or lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), and implement remedies to prevent recurrence of failures.
Capital & Expense Project Support:
- Provide technical support for capital and expense projects, ensuring that maintenance considerations such as reliability, standardization, and quality are incorporated into the project design and execution.
Preventative Maintenance & Training Programs:
- Develop, implement, and manage electrical and instrumentation preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Design and implement training programs for electricians and instrumentation technicians, enhancing their skills and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, industry standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA), and company policies, promoting a safe working environment for all staff.
- Monitor plant conditions to preclude equipment failure, ensuring that proper care is administered to all systems.
General Management Duties:
- Plan, coordinate, and delegate maintenance activities to optimize resource allocation and ensure timely task completion.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of employees, management, production teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth operations.
Key Qualifications:
Experience:
- Proven experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance, with strong supervisory skills managing teams of technical staff (preferably 10 employees).
- Experience with motors, drives, PLCs, control systems, and instrumentation.
Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, PLCs, control loops, and control networks.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and instrumentation systems and implement corrective actions.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for evaluating equipment performance and resolving operational issues.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse teams and at all organizational levels.
- Well-organized, efficient, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to access all areas of the plant, including the ability to climb, work at high elevations, and tolerate exposure to varying environmental conditions (e.g., humidity, cold, noise).
